MONTGOMERY – State Treasurer Young Boozer is one of 14 state officials from across the nation serving on the College Savings Plans Network (CSPN) Executive Board. CSPN Board members are elected by their peers. They serve one-year terms and act as the leadership team for the College Savings Plans Network.
“I’m honored to serve Alabama and the nation as a member of CSPN’s Executive Board,” said Treasurer Boozer. “The continued rising cost of college is a major concern for families across the country. Membership on this board gives me the unique opportunity to interact with officials from other states to discuss the best ways families can start preparing early for those costs.”
According to its website, the College Savings Plans Network was formed in 1991 as an affiliate to the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST). With the goal of making higher education more attainable, CSPN is a clearinghouse for information among state-administered college savings programs, like CollegeCounts, Alabama’s 529 Fund. CSPN also tracks federal activities related to higher education and promotes legislation that would positively affect 529 plans across the country.
